GILL BRENNAN COUNSELLING
Counselling for young people and teenagers
Young people and teenagers can really benefit from someone outside the family with whom to share fears or worries:-
My experience is that young people can respond to counselling with surprisingly fast positive results.
Counselling can be tailored to what and how the young person may want to communicate – I can use more informal methods suited to each individual, and also work with young people with special needs such as Asperger's syndrome.
- Learning to express themselves with a supportive adult - and be accepted by them - can be effective in dispersing anxiety and feelings of isolation.
- Increasing awareness of a young person’s strengths and life’s opportunities for them can build their self-confidence and resilience.
- Developing their abilities to manage difficult feelings can help young people for the rest of their lives.
